“Against the grain” basically means choosing to do something in a way that requires more effort. More effort may require a short-lived level of discomfort or even hardship, but the end product is always worth it and stands out in a crowd.

Our wooden wicks have always set us apart from many other candle making companies, and we feel it is important to reiterate why. Wooden wicks are more sustainable, kind to the environment, and truthfully.. more expensive for us to source since they are not cheaply made. If you have ever burned one of our candles before, you know that nothing beats our non-toxic full room fragrance throw and that cozy, warm wooden wick crackle. A wooden wick candle has about 3x the life of a cotton wicked candle, and 100x the satisfaction… but that’s just us.

The Woodie brand encompasses a bright, fun, and playful vibe, with a vibrant retro feel. We want to lean into the “going against the grain” motto by encouraging our colleagues, friends and customers to go against the grain with us. Do what you want and create a life you love!
